T.G.I.F... well, in 39 minutes anyway...

Hey, I just want to say that I am totally psyched that today is Thursday, and that Friday is in 39, well, 38 minutes now. I just don't think that I can fully express to you how totally awesome I think that is *sigh*... anyway, I'm looking forward to an awesome weekend, partly because this is Labor Day weekend, and I'm totally hoping for a trip to the beach, and partly because after this weekend, the next weekend is the last weekend before the first round of exams. According to like, everybody here, the first 3 weeks and first exams prove who sinks and who floats. So, living it up this weekend, studying hard next weekend. While I'm thinking about tests and stuff, I have to give one small piece of advice. Whatever you do, do not, I repeat, DO NOT spend too much time on facebook! I'm not going to repeat this, but if you have ever gotten a facebook account, you know what I mean. IT'S ADDICTING!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

This message will self-destruct in 10,9,8...

just kidding!
Have a great weekend!

No title... sry, couldn't be clever tonight!

What a day... what a day... so, apart from having class so sporadically all throughout the day, and the torrential rains that have been flooding Buies Creek all day, today has been kinda hectic, but good news! Tomorrow will be worse! no, just kidding, the real good news: it's supposed to rain every day until Monday; yea, like that's good news... Anyway, so I went to Campus Crusades for Christ ( from now on referred to as CRU, just FYI...) tonight with a couple of my friends, and had a wonderful experience. We sang praise and worship songs, played games, met people, signed up for big brother/big sister, and learned about the CRU ministries. I had a great time, and really enjoyed it, but it got me thinking, as do most things,unfortunately,but that's another story... I got to thinking about how amazing it is for teens, and people in their early 20's to be so on fire for Christ, especially when they're in such a stressful time, where they're trying to figure out who they are, what they want out of life, and having to deal with peer pressure to do all sorts of things. Granted that even though I am a born-again Christian, I am not the most religious person to ever walk this earth, but regardless, I am absolutely amazed at the faith that these kids around me have. I say, "KUDOS FOR THEM!!!!!!!". At this point, I have to pat myself on the back, I'm sorry. I am so proud to have picked such a wonderful place, and to have surrounded myself with such a great, Christian atmosphere. Lately, I have wondered about whether or not I really am where I am supposed to be, BUT, if I am not where I am supposed to be, I definitely think that Campbell is the runner-up.

Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more...

Okay, so today is the 6th day of classes and in the past 7 hours we have had 2 tornado warnings for Buies Creek.

When we went to breakfast this morning it was sprinkling but it had been previously pouring so there were puddles everywhere. When I got out of class at 1pm there were no more puddles and the sun was shining high and bright. At 2:35-ish it started pouring again. and when I got out of class at 3pm, it was still raining cats and dogs. After about 10 minutes it let up a little and so I made a run for it, but my dorm was still being drenched in some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen, so I had to run into the rain to get to my room.

Needless to say, the weather can't make up it's mind and I was soaked when I got to my room!

Welcome Week!

So for our first week we attended some different activities and met some new people. I am excited because I already have a little group of friends that I eat meals with and just hang out with. Me, Donna Lynn and Adam (Donna Lynn's friend).

We went to the freshmen block party on Saturday after we moved in, and then we played cards. We have gone to the street fair, seen Prince Caspian on the big screen, gotten a couple free t-shirts, played bingo, WATCHED not played mud volleyball, met our professors, started classes and we went to a Black Violin concert:
Violins played to hip hop beats. It was amazing! Check them out! Black Violin (Their CD is cheaper on iTunes)

Freshmeat, literally...

Yea, so... I'm a freshman. Let's go ahead and get that out of the way... I'm a freshman, in college at least, thank God it's not high school, again. No offense to high school or anything, but I'm glad to say that I am officially out of the public school system. But, I feel like we're starting off on the wrong foot here. I love Campbell University... let's go ahead and get that out of the way too. Campbell is an awesome place, with a beautiful, rural campus in Buies Creek, NC, great professors, a diverse student body, potentially awesome people, fantastic food, and a spirituality that some churches could only dream of. I'm really excited about the opportunities this place holds for me. I can't wait to see what God has in store for me here. I know that the boundaries are endless, and there are so many directions I can go. I only hope that I make the right decisions, and if I make the wrong ones, I can only hope that I learn from my mistakes; after all, this is a learning period right? Speaking of learning and such, I also have some goals and things that I want to accomplish here:

1. to be a person who knows who she is, understands herself, is comfortable with herself, and has confidence to do whatever she sets her heart on;
2. to make lifelong friends, and to "be a friend a friend would like to have";
3. to grow spiritually, and to become more knowledgeable and aware in that sense;
4. to graduate with a degree that will allow me to do my little bit of good in this world;
5. to become a successful, self-sufficient, intelligent, independent, innovative, and productive member of society.

I hope that this year is everything that I hope that it will be, and that it should be...

The beginning of the rest of our lives!!

Hey everyone!!

My name is Julia and I am a freshman at college. I am attending Campbell U in small town Buies Creek, North Carolina. My major is Business Administration and I hope to end up with Event Planning as my career.

My goals this year are:
1. To make true friends
2. To stay connected to and grow closer to God
3. Keep a cheerful and positive attitude
4. To discover a new talent
5. To learn how to be more creative, keep an open mind to new ideas

Okay, so before I start telling you about my whole personal life, I better tell you what this whole blog is about.... my roommate, Donna Lynn, and I want to write down the experiences that we have in college. We are going to be blogging about anything and everything and hopefully most of it will be interesting.

We are determined to have fun, while not flunking college. So hold on tight and get ready for the ride that goes everywhere while staying in one small town in central North Carolina!
